The Cranberries’ stellar second album, No Need To Argue was released in 1994 and to celebrate its 30th anniversary, Island/UMe have released an expanded deluxe edition of the album. Led by the singles, “Ode To My Family”, “I Can’t Be With You” and the surprisingly heavy (both musically and lyrically) “Zombie; the sophomore album solidified the status of the late Delores O’Riordan and the band – Noel Hogan, Mike Hogan, and Fergal Lawler – as titans of 90’s alternative rock.
For this deluxe edition, the original album has been newly remastered and the 2LP set is highlighted by the addition of two new, infectiously- danceable remixes of “Zombie” and “Ode To My Family” by Iain Cook of the band CHVRCHES; and three rare live tracks – “I Can’t Be With You”, “Ridiculous Thoughts” and “Daffodil Lament” – taken from their electrifying performance at Woodstock 1994. Also included is a previously unreleased demo version of “Zombie” that showcases how the smash hit song took its shape. A limited edition 3LP set is also available which is highlighted by the inclusion of the band’s legendary MTV Unplugged performance from 1995.
As with all UMe reissues, the packaging is outstanding, featuring a gorgeous glossy gatefold and tons of photos from the era. Additionally, liner notes by Stuart Clark, as well as a track-by-track commentary of the album with notes from the band, Delores and a sweet note about “Ode To My Family” by her mother are included.
Singer-songwriter Delores O’Riordan possessed a truly, one of a kind voice and her legacy is upheld with this expanded 30th anniversary reissue of No Need To Argue, The Cranberries’ stunning second album.
